August 28th, 2024 ⚡ Jazz, Jayson Derulo and European cafes
Plus some bottomless fish and chips!

#TGIW because that means it’s time for Windy City Weekly!
In todays email:
Summertime Chi is almost at an end, but there are still some great Labor Day weekend events to check out.
Dine like you’re European at this Lakeview East cafe
Bottomless Fish and Chips, say what?

✌️out summer. The last Navy Pier Fireworks of the year are this Saturday Night (8/31). Be a tourist for a night because winter is coming.
🇵🇱 Chicago is home to the largest Polish population outside of Poland. So naturally the Windy City also has the largest Polish Festival in the USA. Celebrate all things Polish at the Taste of Polonia. Happening all weekend (Monday too!)
🐶🎨We’re suckers for a good art festival. But what’s better than an art festival? An art festival where all the hipsters live like Bucktown. Music, art, food, and even a dog parade. Happening this Saturday and Sunday in errrr . . . Bucktown.
🔥⚽ Watch the Chicago Fire lose to a Messi-less Inter Miami on Saturday Night. But stay to relive your teenager clubbing days with a live performance by the one and only Jason Derulo (pronounced in auto-tune as JAY-son DeRoooolow).
🍹Labor Day Weekend means that the Chicago Jazz Festival is back in Millenium Park. Admission is totally free but alcohol is not. The weather looks great for some sweet slow Jazz baby.
Restaurant of the Week
Why we love it:
This little Lakeview East cafe gives off major European ouotdoor seating vibes. It’s perfect for the last days of summer and a few Appy Spritzs’ during their happy hour (every weekday from 4-7).
It’s a little bit of a quirky place that you can tell isn’t quite American and it’s awesome. Get there early because the outdoor seating fills up fast.
WCW Rating: 🍹🍹🍹 Wide ranging menu is affordable and decent, but you’re really here to enjoy to vibe and sit outside like the Parisians.
📍2935 N Broadway
☕ Coffee Shop of the Week ☕
Why we love it:
Everything in this Ukrainian-owned coffee shop is intentional and the design is clean and sleek. They roast their own beans and their fresh selection of crossaints are worth the trip to one of Lincoln Park’s newest third-wave coffee shops.
WCW Rating: ☕ ☕ ☕ Great back story (ask the owners while you’re there!) and solid coffee.
📍2275 N Lincoln Ave
🥃 Watering Hole of the Week 🥃

Why we love it:
Bottomless Fish and Chips every Wednesday and Friday! This is a classic Scottish Pub with some of Scotland’s best whiskeys and heavy pours.
But try the Bellhaven Ale. According to employees, Duke of Perth is the number one consumer of this smooth ale from just outside of Edinburgh in the entire United States.
WCW Rating: 🥃🥃🥃 Great whiskey and beer, service can be a wee bit slow sometimes. But they’re on island time.
📍 2827 N Broadway, Chicago
Until next week! With love from the WCW crew!
